This trek gives you a real taste of Tibetan highland adventure and an insight into Tibetan Buddhism. Interspersed with excursions to ancient monasteries, this trek is also recommended for the aficionado of Tibetan theology.

Trekking in Tibet offers you an altogether different experience. As you hike along the rugged Tibetan terrain, you will be greeted with sights so different and new: from the arid Tibetan topography that resembles a lunar landscape to the ancient villages with their colorful prayer flags and magnificent monasteries. As you traverse along the 80km trekking trail that skirts barley fields and nomadic pastureland, you get an opportunity to observe Tibetan lifestyle at close quarters and experience the real Tibet. Before your trek commences, you will be taken on a sightseeing tour to Lhasa.

The Ganden to Samye trek is an adventurous one, involving traversing through the highest pass crossing the Xugar La(5250m), charming nomad camps dotted all about. We make the overland journey by a comfortable four wheeler.
 

Outline Itinerary :

Day 1: Fly Kathmandu - Lhasa (3650m/60km) and transfer to hotel

Day 2: Lhasa Potala Palace - visit Jokhang Temple and Bharkor Street

Day 3: Lhasa- Drepung Monastery,Sera monastery

Day 4: Drive Lhasa to Namtso Lake (4718m/250Km)- return to Lhasa

Day 5: Drive Lhasa to Ganden monastery (4500m/60km) vist the monastery and walk around the monastery Kora/ Camp

Day 6: Trek to Lheipu village - 3-4 hrs / Camp

Day 7: Trek from Lheipu to the foot of Xugar La (mountain pass) (5250m)- 5-6 hrs\Camp at the foot of Xugar La.

Day 8: Trek from Sumdo kang by walking for around 5-6 hrs.Campat Sumdo Kang

Day 9: Trek from Sumdo kang to Nyenpu,a name of a village and then to Samye by small tractor. Samye monastery (3600m)/ Camp or Guest house

Day 10: Visit Samye monastery early in the morning with monks chanting and then Leave for Tsetang- visit Yumbu Lhakang and Traduk temple\ Tsetang Hotel

Day 11: Drive to Gyantse country via Podrang La pass (5030m/127km)\ Guest house

Day 12: Drive to Chokor Gyet monastery (4500m/35km) and visit the monastery on the same day\ Camp or stay in the monastery

Day 13: Walk up to the pass and back to Chokor Gyel monastery.Ascending 5 hrs and Descending 3-4 hrs.You can view Lhamo Lhatso (4000m) from the pass top and see the vision if you are lucky enough. All the Tibetans are looking at the lake from the pass like shooting an arrow in order to get the vision for their life from the lake\ Camp or stay at the monastery.

Day 14: Drive Chokor Gyel monastery to Tsetang, (3600m/162m)\ Overnight Hotel

Day 15: Drive Tsetang- Gyangtse (3950/350km) via Yamdrok holy lake (4488m) and Karo La Glacier\ Overnight Hotel

Day 16: Visit Palchoe monastery and Kubum Pagoda stupa and drive to Shigatse(3900m/90km) via Shalu monastery\ Overnight Hotel

Day 17: Tashi Lhunpo Monastery- Monastery Kora and the old market of Shigatse/ Overnight Hotel

Day 18: Drive to Sakya

Day 19: Drive Sakya to Zhangmu (2300m/380km)/ Overnight Hotel

Day 20: Drive Zhangmu to Kathmandu (1300m/155km)
